Feds Initiate Bear Stearns Probe
The SEC joined federal prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald in a probe into Bear, Stearns. The compunction lies in a suit against Bear Stearns in which the plantiff is Edwards Hospital, alledging that their expansion was not approved by the now ignominy-shrouded Health Facilites Planning Board because they had not hired Kiferbaum Construction or then Bear, Stearns managing partner Nick Hultgeren, a veteran of Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompsons office. His wife, Kim, owned 3.5% of Knight Engineering, whose owners had donated 2,000 each to the Blagojevich campaign, and were in the tradition of Rahm Emmanuels sylogism, "reward your friends and punish your enemies" with lucrative contracts for the nefariously corruption laden Belvedere Rest Stop project, for which they lobbied under then Governor George Ryan.
