REP:Energy Bill "A Failure of Leadership"

After a compromise proposal sponsored by Sherwin Boehlert failed and the "energy bill" passed the House, Republicans for Enivronmental Protection issued a fiat condemning it, characterizing it as a "failure of leadership." Boehlert's legislation would have upped fuel efficency standards to 33 MPG. OD commends Congressman Kirk and Johnson, the sole Republican members of the Illinois delegation to vote "no." An article in the Trib incorrectly identified Johnson as having voted "yes."
