Leader:Stroger Not to Seek Another Term

The Illinois Leader has run an article in which they repute that it is widely expected that embattled chairman of the Cook County Board John Stroger will seek a third term in his present capacity. Rumors have intensified of a Gorman run in the GOP primary, in addition to fellow commissioner Peraica, of Riverside. Stroger was angling to pass it off to not, Dorothy Brown, as widely expected, but to his son, Todd, an alderman from Chicago's 4th. Some have suspected that the younger Mr Stroger would not do well in the Democratic primary.
Dorothy Brown, the Cook County Clerk, has also been mentioned as a potential gubernatorial candidate. The last time someone tried to parlay CC office into a statewide one, it did not end well. That was Richard Phelan, who lost the gubernatorial primary to Dawn Clark Netsch. (Phelan has favored Severns for Lt Governor, who ended up on the ticket with Netsch. Severns has voiced opposistion to Netsch's school funding plan.)
