Governor Signs Bill to Curb Elder Abuse

On Tuesday, the governor signed a bill that requires Illinois nursing homes to perform criminal background checks on all employees. House Bill 2531, sponsored by Sen. Ed Maloney(D-Chicago), and Rep. Kevin Joyce(D-Worth), also mandates fingerprinting of nursing home staffers. The legislation is vaunted in a press release here.
