A Look at the 85th House District

Deputy House Minority Leader Brent Hassert(R-Romeoville), who also sits on the House Republican Organization, is thought to be a potential Tier 1 or Tier 2 target in 2006 because of unfavorable redistricting. However, in both 2002 and 2004, Hassert easily won re-election against only a Libertarian challenger. Now sharing Sen. AJ Wilhelmi(D-Joliet)'s legislative district with Rep Jack McGuire(D-Joliet) puts Hassert in a less friendly position that his district on the 1990 map(in which the Senator was Petka and the other rep was none other than now leader Cross), but the Democrats have not yet displayed enough initiative to even run a candidate, and it seems unlike that 2006 would be any different. (Wilhelmi was appointed to the seat vacated by the venerate Larry Walsh, when the latter was elected Will County Executive.)
Rep. Hassert's percentages from the last general elections.
