The impending departures of Pete Roskam and Ed Petka from the ranks of the Illinois Senate create vacancies in the positions of minority whip and deputy minority leader, respectively. This begs the question: who is to succeed them? Radogno? Burzynski? Dillard? Lauzen? Syverson(sp?)? Perhaps, if Radogno were not slated as a lieutenant gubernatorial candidate, she could be offered one of these leadership posts. It would be in the interests of both Syverson and Burzynski to see the other offered one, ergo, one fewer competitor for the US House from CD-16. (Rumors are flying that incumbent Don Manzullo is on the verge of attrition.)
