A Look at the House Rs-by Previous Occupation

Obiter Dictum was wondering what the most common previous occupation was for a state legislator, so she indulged her curiosity with a look at a microcosm of them-the Illinois House Republicans. Relying on my previous knowledge and online bios, I was able to categorize all but four(i.e. Eddy, McAullife, Meyer, and Mitchell) of the 53. This is accurate as of prior to Millner's appointment to the Senate. It includes him and excludes Ramey. The professions were mutually exclusive.
Law and education were the most common fields, each boasting 8 members, and approximately 16% of the sample. A distant third was farming, with 6 members, approximately 12.5%.
