A Change of Heart from Durbin and Obama?

Will Durbin and Obama reverse course and support Ms. Miers's nomination? I think not. They have expressed no particular inclination towards a female nominee-and that is probably no more than a passing charade for any of the Democrats. After all, they voted against Brown, and, while Miers's record is less known, it is probably no more palatable to them. In many respects, she is a more tenacious choice than Roberts. Her personal legal history will no doubt be scrutizinzed under the microscope of the Senate J Committee, and her lack of overwhelming conservative credentials will not galvanize many ardent allies. However, she, like Roberts, may be just "boring" enough to get confirmed. One should probably expect a considerably lower margin, though, maybe in the low 60s.
