Man of the Hour: Senator Kirk Dillard

Kirk Dillard is a man with sanguine prospects: chairmansip of the Senate Judiciary Committee(when the Rs return to power) and quite possibly the posistion of minority leader when Watson retires. He is the well-respected chairman of the DuPage County GOP, nearly fifteen years under his belt in the Illinois Senate, and has served as a highly ranking aide to two governors. The most imminient of these prospects may be, however, carrying the party banner to the Treasurer's office. No candidate has yet emerged to succeed Judy Baar Topinka, who has all but announced her gubernatorial run, but Dillard could very well be he. A Topinka ally, he would bring additional acumen and experience to the statewide ticket, albeit in the absence of geographic balance.
