Gavel Hunger Bites

Former senator Ted Lechowicz's son is following in his father's foot steps with a run for elected office. This from Carol Marin:

His son Ed is a candidate for a judicial vacancy in the 6th subcircuit of Cook County in the March primary. The 6th subcircuit serves the mostly white and Hispanic North and West side neighborhoods of Wicker Park, Bucktown, Humboldt Park and Logan Square.

If elected, Lechowicz would succeed James Jorzak, son of a former judge.

Ed says he sees no point in submitting his credentials to the bar associations the way most judicial candidates do. "I believe I'm fully qualified and the leaders of the Democratic Party believe I'm fully qualified," he told me by phone. "Bar associations set an unreasonable limit," he said, referring to their requirement of a minimum of 10 to 12 years of legal experience.

Lechowicz has already been slated by the county party and his expected to win. His father may be declining in health, but not in influence.
