The Last Round

UPDATE: Claypool has conceded. As of now, with roughly eighty seven percent of Chicago precincts reporting, he has 39.8% to Stroger's sixty, about forty eight percent overall. (See here for Chicago results.)

In Sangamon County, it looks like county board member Sam Cahnman has ekked out an unexpected victory in the 99th district's Democratic primary. With all precincts reporting, Cahnman has 51.8% to Ald. Chuck Redpath's 48%. Cahnman will face state Rep. Raymond Poe(R-Springfield) in the fall, an uphill battle in a county where Republican primary voters outnumbered Democrats by nearly two to one. (Of about twenty four thousand primary voters, just over fifteen thousand were Republicans.)
(See here for Sangamon results.)

According to one newspaper, Andrea Zinga has prevailed in the 17th district race, with a margin of under three hundred votes. The general election will be her second run against US Rep Lane Evans.
