Let's Get Physical

Cynthia McKinney, meet Rickey Hendon. Both have apologized in recent days for getting physical with police officers or other lawmakers.

According to the Sun Times:

With a grand jury investigating and little support from House colleagues, Rep. Cynthia McKinney reversed course and apologized Thursday for an altercation in which she entered a Capitol building unrecognized, refused to stop when asked by a police officer and then hit him.

All others entering the Capitol have to pass through a metal detector, but members of Congress do not. McKinney was not wearing her House pin. Senator Hendon, on the other hand, likes to pin people to the ground.

Also from the Sun-Times:

State Sen. Rickey Hendon's conduct toward a woman again became an issue when he unexpectedly tackled a south suburban female lawmaker after this week's House-Senate softball game.

Both Hendon and McKinney(who could face indictment for what she did) are out of bounds on this one. What will it take to get some people in power to realize that they have to play by the same rules as everyone else?

Now we know that Hendon is not just a verbal bully, but a physical one, too. He's long bullied witnesses at committee hearings, colleagues in the Senate, and members of the press. After the out-of-bounds hazing incident last month, one would expect him to ease up. It's a good thing there's not a House-Senate hockey game--who knows what he'd do after that.
